Program Description

6 credits HIST 399C/SOCI 399. This course will look at how different African societies and cultures have viewed, practiced gender and sexuality since the 18th century until today. Students will travel to Senegal and Gambia, where the bulk of the course will take place. You will receive backgound instruction before the tour begins, keep a trip journal, and will complete a processing assignment upon return. You will learn about the culture, economy and history of Senegal and Gambia. You will sample the local food and participate on an excursion to Gorée Island. Bring your friends or make new friends for life in this adventure of a lifetime!
